Hi guys and welcome back to another boring blog. Today I will be posting about what we did last week for our rat dissection and what happened when we cut it open and look at its organs. It smelled really bad and was kinda hard to cut open but once you started it, it pretty easy to carry on cutting the rest of it. Something that I didn't expect when I cut it open was when I pulled the large intestines out and how long it actually was. I had never really thought about that kind of thing until cutting the rat open and how everything sits in one's body.
Materials that we used were-
- Scalpel
- Scissors
- wax tray
- Gloves
- (mask if you have one)
- 6 Pins
- Rat
- Newspaper
- Get all of your equipment ready
- Put your gloves on and set the table down with the newspaper
- Pin the legs and arms of the rat
- Cut open the skin of the rat down the middle far enough to pull the skin off and pin the skin down
- Carefully cut open the rat without damaging any of the organs inside
- Try and find the stomach and identify the large and small intestine
- One finished with the rat dispose of it in a bag and throw it away it the red bin
