Matariki and hangi / how they both relate
When you make a hangi it represents Matariki and the people that have died in the years. The steam that comes up from the hangi gets fed to the spirits up above.

Ivy and gardening

Hi guys and welcome back to another blog post fro this week. Today I will be talking about ivy. I was pulling out ivy today and it was really really hard to do so because all of the vines were tangled in together making it harder to pull out.

Ivy
Khaylanie, Risha, Shreya, Nevaeh, Makenzie and I were all helping pull out stumps and ivy bushes together. Makenzie came to help halfway when we were standing on a stump and with her, we actually got a little bit more ivy out. I and Risha were helping down the bottom. Makenzie and Nevaeh were trying to pull out a deep little root buried among the tree stump.

Bugs
When we were pulling out the tree stumps we found lots of bugs. Nevaeh found a Praying mantis in the ground. I and Khaylanie found lots of snails and its shells that were empty. Risha found lots of centipedes. We also found quite a few spiders crawling around in the soil along with some worms.

Tree stumps
Me, Khaylanie and Rish were trying so hard to pull out tree stumps that were either in the ivy, In our way or that were dead and rotting away. I had to use a shovel to dig deeper to make the stump loose and I also had to hit it and pull it out with a shovel. We had gotten almost all of the tree stumps gone except for this really large one that we may not be able to get out.

Stop motion

Hi guys and welcome back to another blog for this year. today I will be talking about stop motion, the people in my group, what my roles are when doing it and if our story has a Manaakitanga.

The people that are in my group is Me, Kahlanie and Travis. Amanda was in our group but she wanted to switch to another group. My role in the group is the illustrator which my job is to do all of the drawings. Khaylanies role in the group in the Director which makes sure that everyone is on task and doing what they are supposed to do. Travis's role in the group is the camera person. His role is to draw red and blue arrows to shoe if the person is moving or if the camera is.

Our story doesn't have a manaakitanga yet

Here is a photo of our storyboard.

Maths DLO

Hi guys and welcome back to my blog. Today I will be showing a video about how to round decimal numbers. I am not in the DLO but I am the one the made all of the credits. There are two questions to be answered. I gave them the idea of how work out what to say and when and when it is there turn to talk.
Here is the video

What do you know about P.E

Hi guys and welcome back to another blog post for this week. Today I will be talking about my reflection about p.e. The first thing that we did at the very start is to do some math. The math was about the ground maintenance challenge. We would do it every time we did P.E and then head out to have a game in the gym. We had to work out like how much paint we needed on a football pitch or how long and wide it was.

  • Challenges that I faced and the skills that I used
Some challenges that I faced was when we were doing the math. At first, I didn't know how to do it but when we all got together because I asked how to do it we all got into one spot and the teacher explained it to us. When we all got back to work I understood it a little bit better and went straight to it.
The skill that I used was asking for help when needed.

  • A question we had to solve
A question that we had to solve is also part of the maths. The question was how much litres of paint did we need to use of buy of something like that. I had trouble with that but managed to get the answer.

Tapu ae
Physical skills that I used was running to different places trying to outrun or dodge my opponent.

Dodgeball
Physical skills that I used in dodge ball was to obviously dodge the ball but also have good aim.

Multisport
Physical skills that I used was to run as fast as I could and quickly grab or move around to get the equipment that was needed.

Crashpad cricket
Physical skills that I needed in this game was hitting the ball and dodging the people trying not to get hit by a ball.

Digital tech

Hi guys and welcome back to another blog post for this week. Today I will be talking about my issue and a game that I made to share what I had learnt. I will be talking about some facts that I researched in order to make my game.

The first thing that we did was

  • Research our issue
My issue was about the enviroment and people cutting down trees.

  • Put it onto a doc
When we found our issues research we then put it onto a doc that we were sent.

  • Decide if we want a game, app, make a robot or write a narrative.
I chose to make a game because when we I first saw it I thought that I could come up with a good idea on how to make it work and what it would do.

  • Create our game
When we finished our doc we then got a move on and some action and started to create the first touches to our game or app or whatever we were making.

  • Finish our game
When we finish our game we are going to test it out and let others have a little play around with it so that we can get some feedback on what we could add more or less of and what we should improve on.

Here is a photo of my game.

Here is the link to my research template

My reflection on this is very good. I enjoyed what I have learnt during this time. I have learnt something that I don't think I would have wanted to learn but this was actually quite fun. When I made my game I think that I could have been better st it and made it less long and harder to play. I had lots of fun and would maybe like to do it again but just earn something that I don't know anything about or might know a little bit about.

Sources that we used was:
Gamefroot
App lab
Scratch

Would you like to learn anything like we have or something different that i digital?

Tane Mahuta

Tane Mahuta
Hi guys and welcome back to my blog. Today I will be talking about gardening and what my experience with it was when we started and what it was, like when we really got into it.

So the first thing that we did was have a look at the outside classroom and the trees and the big car wheels that had dead plants in it. I chose to help with the outside classroom because it looked like it needed quite a few people and I thought that I would enjoy it other then everything else witch was the tree pruning and the tyre plants or whatever they were.

The first thing that we did was taking out everything that was on the top of big things like chairs and tables and all of the big stuff that was on the ground. We found some useful things such as Bamboo and some chairs. We also found some tarpaulins and some planting pots that we could start to plant little seeds in and then move them into the big pots that we found.

The second thing that we did was take out all of the bog chairs and tables and dust them out. We dusted most of the dust out of the chairs and moved them into the junk pile. We made two separate piles. One to keep and one to chuck out into the bin. We moved all of the junk into the bin with a trolly. That way it was faster and easier to move.

PLACE VALUE

This week for Maths Interchange we have all been learning about Place Value. We then had to create a DLO to show you what we have learned in the past week. Chloe, Jaz and I decided we would create a poster to show what we have learned.

Fitness testing

Fitness testing

Hi guys and welcome back to another blog post. Today I am going to be to showing you my results on the fitness testing.

On the first test which was the vertical jump got up to 2.0 on the standing measure and got up to 2.1 for the jump height and then for the vertical distance, I got a 0.2. The second time we did it I got up to 2.1 for the vertical jump on the standing measure I got up to 2.1 again and for the vertical distance, I got 2.3.

For the sit and reach for the distance on the first time we did it I got a 17.5 cm and on the second time that we did it I got a score of 14.2cm which I could have done better if I did a warm-up before I did the sit and reach.

For the sit-ups on the first time we did it I got a score out of 15. I know I would have done better if I had done a warm-up once again to get my body all pumped and warmed up before I started. The second time we did it I got a score out of 17 my score just isn't on the sheet because When I thought someone said to start I did and then I was all sore to do it once again after I had just finished the fake round.

For the last one when we did the grip strength I got a score out of 0 on the first because it was really hard to do and I improved on the second round because I got a score out of 10 and was really proud of what I had done since doing the grip strength is really hard.

Effects with us and trees

Effects with us and tress
Hi guys and welcome back to another blog post for this ear. Today I will be telling you about the effects with us and trees and how bad cutting them down can be. Especially the native trees that grow around here right in New Zealand and in other countries.

Some New Zealand natives.

  1. Pohutukawa
  2. Karaka
  3. Kowhai
  4. Mousehole
  5. Puatea
  6. Totara
  7. New Zealand cabbage tree
  8. Rimu
  9. Rough tree fern
  10. Nestegis lanceolata
Like theses trees that people could be cutting down because they don't look or they just have to cut them down because the area someone is looking at is a good and sturdy building place to start a new town or city or something like that.

These trees are very special to us natives because they are apart of our country and even tho other trees are apart of our country they aren't as special as the native trees.

Effect with no trees
The effect that it would have on people is very high depending on how much loss of trees is going down each year where ever they are living and how they are living.

3.04 trillion trees
The study found that there are around 3.04 trillion trees on Earth or around 422 for each person
on the planet. The number is a huge increase on the previous global estimate, which was just
over 400 billion trees worldwide.

This is just an effect with this much loss of trees. Imagine the world with no trees which we are now getting back to that right now.

Effects with no trees
Life could not exist on Earth without trees because they produce most of
the oxygen that humans and wildlife breathe. Trees absorb carbon dioxide
from the atmosphere and release oxygen using the process of photosynthesis...
Trees can also act as noise filters.

What would happen if we cut down all the worlds trees? FILTHY AIR: Without trees, humans would not be able to survive because the air would be bad for breathing. ... Therefore, the absence of trees would result in significantly HIGHER amounts of carbon dioxide in the air and LOWER amounts of oxygen!

Information
Trees that are getting cut down are probably happening in your country right now or people are marking them so that they can be cut down and yeah us people might need paper but one person doesn't use at least over 50 pieces of a paper a day. They can't and they won't. Trees need to stop being cut down every know and then. They should only be cut down if people really need it and we already have a lot of paper in the world right now. Some of it is being wasted or thrown out and shredded that could still be used on for spare or just really quickly to make a note or reminder for that day or week.

Dodgeball

Dodgeball

Last week on Thursday we played a game of dodgeball. We played many games of it. We played class vs class, girls vs boys, y8 vs y7. It was a really cool variety of different ways to play dodgeball with any people.we played two games of each and were a blast. ON the last game that we were playing it was all really messed up and people kept on getting confused and whenever somebody got hit they said no no no I didn't get hit and carried on playing the game.

Steps

  1. Set up cones
  2. Put balls on each cone
  3. Stand at the back of the wall
  4. Wait until go
  5. Have fun
Rules

Before you start throwing the balls at each other you need to set up. First of all, you need to set up the cones and put them in the middle of the court along the line. Next, you need to grab as many cones and you put on the line and place them on top of the cones. When that job has bee done you stand at the back of the wall if inside and if playing outside then stand behind the far line. When someone blows the whistle or says go then you run as fast as you can and can only have one ball in the hand at a time. When you throw the ball is someone catches it you are out. If you hit someone they are out. If someone catches it but fails to hold on to it they are out. When they are out they stand at the back of the opposite side and try to catch a ball that is being thrown to them. If you fail to catch it you stay there. If you catch it but fail to hold onto it you stay there. if you catch it and you manage to hold onto it you go back onto your side and start playing again.

I hope you have a better understanding of how to play dodgeball. If you don't like this version of how to play dodgeball comment below.

Cutting down trees

Cutting trees can result in the loss of habitat for lots of different animal species which can harm ecosystems. According to the national geographic " 70 per cent of the Earths land animals and plants live in the forest and many cannot survive the deforestation that destroys most of their homes.

Large scales of tree cutting can lead to deforestation. It is a transformation of an area from forest to terrain with little vegetation. Plants create oxygen and absorb greenhouse gases. The destruction of trees may, therefore, encourage global warming which changes temperatures that alter which organisms can survive in an ecosystem.

The carbon that the trees store fly into the atmosphere. More places in the world have fewer trees which means more deforestation.

  • Carbon dioxide
  • Water vapour
  • Nitrous oxide
  • Methane
  • Chloro Fluorocarbons
Some estimate for 4 to 6 thousand rain forest species goes extinct each year. Logg ing operations that provide the world with lots of wood and paper products also cut down countless trees each year. Forests are also destroyed as a result of growing urban sprawl as land is developed for dwellings. The effects of deforestation are grave but not irreversible.
