Speaking my truth

Hi guys and welcome back to another blog. Today I had drama, and in drama, the things we did was play 3 games. The first game we played was charades then 7 up and finally copy circle. We did this during period 2.

Why?

How to play:
Charades - You firstly pick a card and look at it but you have to make sure nobody sees that card that you have grabbed. When it is your turn to stand up you need to act out the object/thing/animal and the people you are playing with have to try and guess what you are acting out. When somebody guesses right then it is their turn to go up and act out their object/thing/animal.

How to play:
7 up - You have a group of people and need to get into a circle. Once you have done that you can then start to play. You start with one person starting off with the number 1 and ending with the number 7. When you say the number you need to point in the direction you want the next number to go - pointing to a person. That person then says 2 and so on and so on. When one of the people reaches 7 they need to put their hand above their head and say 7 up. You then carry on the game until there is only one person left/ the winner.

How to play:
Copy circle - You have to have a group of people and they need to get into a circle. One person stands up and heads outside while one person in being chosen to start off the actions. When the person has started the actions everybody needs to copy them. The person who outside then needs to come back and try and guess who the leader is. The person gets 3 tries until they are out. The action/leader person can change the movement/ action at any time. When the person who went outside chooses correctly they then need to sit in the place the action person was sitting and the action person then needs to go outside and then you can continue the game.

I will keep on updating this every time we do drama.

Today at the start of drama we were focusing on action movement and following the leader's actions. When we finished doing that we looked into doing freeze-frame and body movement such as clapping our hands, Jumping, and walking in a circle on stage. After that, we moved onto making a machine with our bodies which meant we had to be in a group of 3,4,5 people. The machine that I and my group did was a car. We were debating on what machine we were going to do because some of us wanted to do either a car, plane, bike and boat but we did a car. After that, we went onto writing our monologues or continuing it. Here is my one.

Did you call me? Oh, do you want me to take a basket? Yup, ok. Uhh, where exactly is the basket? Mk, I'll take it to her now. What did you say. Of course, I won’t talk to strangers or stop in the forest. Ok yes, I promise bye now. Oh, what beautiful flowers! I will take some to grandmas. Whos that. Oh good morning Mr wolf. I am going to my grandmas to give her this little basket of bread and honey. Oh no Mr wolf granny lives just across the forest. Yes, she does with a little white door. Thank you Mr wolf I also hope she gets better too. Uhhh nope. I ain't taking no strange road. Look I'm sorry but I really should be on my way. Bye. What a strange wolf. Finally. Its about time I made it to Granny's house. Hmm? Her doors wide open. She never leaves her door open. Granny? Are you in here? Why is your door wide open. Anyone could get in. Why is your voice so.? Deep? And why are your eyes so big. Ur ears are huge as well as your Sharp teeth. Is everything alright….

Here is another monologue I did. It is a duo one with me and my friend.

So yeah I did believe the wolf about that “secret” path that was apparently quicker. Yeah, I did believe that the wolf was my grandma. And yeah I did get saved by the old timber man but I'm not gonna speak much about him. Btw it isn't my fault that I'm so gullible. I'm known for not thinking before I act. Anyway, I shouldn't be speaking cause I wasn't the one locked up in a cupboard. Was I !?

Yeah. I was the one locked up the cupboard. Old granny smith. The wolf tied me up and threw me in there like I was garbage. The wolf obviously locked the cupboard so i couldn't get out so  I just started to knit. I got a little hungry so I ate some of the wool but it got stuck in between my teeth and couldn't get them out. So I had to take my teeth out and get them unstuck. I then couldnt get them out but didn't want to waste wool so i used it to knit. That's when I heard little red come in through the door.

Here is a description of little red riding.

I am Little Red Riding hood. I am 14 years old and I live with my mother. I'm short and wear a red cloak which gives me my name “ Little red riding hood.”I usually go and visit my grandmother sometimes when she’s sick or when she needs help with something. I obviously have to walk to her house because we don't have a car or a bike. I don't have any friends or pets. There’s a wolf that talks and walks and like a person. Sometime’s the wolf lies and tricks you into stealing your food or something like that. He tricked me and told me a long way to my granny's once. He ate her but then was saved by a man who cut timber.

My character strengths

Hi guys and welcome back to another blog post for this year. I'm sorry that I haven't been posting that much. I will try ad keep up on blogging. Today I am going to be talking about my top 5 strengths and what they mean. I have 24 of these strengths in total but will only be sharing 5 of them. We did a survey about ourselves and in the end, we got to see what our strengths were - in order.
Here are my top 5 strengths -
  1. Appreciation of beauty - You're good at finding beauty in the world and people around you. If somethings not beautiful, you appreciate other qualities and see beauty anyway.
  2. Creativity - You're inspired by other people's ideas but like coming up with your own too. You're good at thinking outside the box and not scared to experiment and try new things.
  3. Self-regulation - You've got great self-control. If you decide to stick to something, you're able to follow through, and this helps you to do well and reach your goals.
  4. Gratitude - You appreciate the things everyone else thinks are normal, like food and family. This is a great strength to have, as most people have to practice being grateful.
  5. Love of learning - You're super into learning new things. Even if you're not the best at something you're keen to know more. This is similar to being curious.

Did I expect this? Why - Why not
No, not really. I thought that my first one was going to be either creativity or zest. I was really happy with my results tho. They do relate to me in some ways. I didn't expect to have self-regulation though because I don't always like to stick to things if I cant get it or follow through with it.

An example of a time when I have shown these strengths are...
  1. Appreciation of beauty - When me and my Taua/Grandma went down a street full of beautiful autumn trees and the white snowy mountains in front of us miles away but was surrounded by houses and factories. I still tried to find the beauty in the scene just to imagine what it would look like without the houses and factories.
  2. Creativity - When somebody was on T.V making art. It really inspired me to try and do one of my own one day when I had all of the art supplies ready to see if I could maybe re-create or make a similar one like the one that was T.V.
  3. Self-regulation - I can't think of when I have shown self-regulation.
  4. Gratitude - I don't understand what this one means and even if I did I wouldn't remember when I did.
  5. Love of learning - At school when we were learning about the history of Aotearoa. I was really into this and was really excited to read thebooks that we were assigned and to learn more about our history and where we came from and what we went through.
Why are these strengths important to have?
I think these strengths are important to have because it makes us a better person and lets us know what we are good at. Also because you get to learn more and more about yourself and how you use these in modern-day life like now and in the future and maybe when you used these in the past.

I hope you enjoyed this very long blog post. Bye.
